A director's poem courtesy of Ronnie Warner at RPMI

A directorship might seem quite fun

A big black chair, golf in the sun

But being a director means so much more

Than a shiny plaque on the door

Each director in good faith must act

As required by law, and thatís a fact

To promote success is his duty clear

With careful thought and without fear

The talents he has, he must bring to bear

If he hasnít the skills, he shouldnít be there!

But he must ensure his decision accords

With his duties distinct for each one solely

And not the Group position wholly

For the individual company, do whatís best

Then youíre sure to pass the test

If conflicts of duty should appear

Shareholder approval is needed here

And if the Board is all male, pale and stale

In diversity you have failed
